Islanders and businesses have donated 657 Christmas gifts for local children who have been in the care system as part of an initiative organised by a local café that supports survivors of sexual abuse.
The Butterfly Café Christmas toy and gift appeal is now in its fourth year.
Led by CEO Cheyenne O’Connor, the initiative was coordinated through an Amazon wish list and a significant private donation.
The gifts which have been wrapped and organised into age groups from 0 to 25 years old will be distributed to children in care, children in need, and care leavers by staff across the Children, Young People and Families Department.
Ms O’Connor said: “We have been overwhelmed with the support of the community alongside local businesses who have contributed and those who have donated money also."
